Sealants and fillings

Looking to avoid needing fake teeth?

If you’re looking to avoid the need for fake teeth, then we have the solution for you. Keeping your teeth healthy is the key to a bright, happy smile. It’s also key to allowing you to keep eating hard and chewy foods without suffering pain. And that’s what dentistry’s about: helping you maintain a healthy, bright happy smile.

Treatments as simple as sealants and fillings can contribute to your healthy, happy smile. They are tooth-colored restorations which can help to keep your teeth healthy and prevent further problems from occurring.

Sealants & Fillings

Sealant

Our Sealants

Although caries are more common in children, adults still pose a high risk for caries, deep grooves, and fissures. Patients with these conditions will benefit from having a sealant treatment to protect the tooth and prevent further decay. We offer our sealant treatments in one sitting during your dental exam if you wish to fix your tooth immediately, and we recommend doing so to prevent further treatment.

Applying a Sealant

Applying a sealant is very a quick and painless treatment with no need for local anesthetic. We can apply sealants after a thorough clean and scale of your teeth during our dental exam and clean. The after-care for a sealant treatment is the same as your daily dental care routine where flossing and brushing should be maintained to preserve the sealant. Choose a non-abrasive toothpaste and a soft toothbrush to keep your sealant in good condition.

Filling

What is a filling?

A filling is a restorative treatment to prevent further decay of a tooth by filling in the hole. We can restore your teeth and make them look as natural as possible and return their natural function and shape. To place a filling, we first remove any decayed material and clean the area from bacteria. Then we use a natural tooth-colored resin to fill the gap, preventing any bad bacteria from re-entering the site and destroying the tooth. The result is a natural looking and healthy tooth.

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Tooth-colored fillings and ceramic or composite resins are becoming more desirable than amalgam, also known as silver fillings, as a result of cosmetic demands. Composite fillings are best for patients who have minimal cavities and mid-sized lesions.  These restorative materials provide good durability, and resistance to fracture and withstand pressure from chewing. They are also disguisable as our dental specialists can blend the color of the filling to your natural tooth color.
